2007 - 2008 COMMITTEES
BYLAWS — Sandra Day , Chair
The Committee annually reviews the bylaws to assure that they are current and in order. It considers all proposed amendments and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.
COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION — Tracy Thaden, Chair
The Committee oversees the activities of the sub-committees related to membership publications or communications and establishes their advertising policies. It is composed of the SPSSCS Secretary as chair and the chairs of the Newsletter, Web Site, and Resource Directory Committees.
NEWSLETTER — Debra Yates, Editor/Chair
The Committee publishes four newsletters annually. The members solicit contributors, write articles, review submitted materials for content and assess the informational needs of the members. It secures advertising and acquires selected mailing lists.
Time Commitment -- approximately 2-3 hours/month
RESOURCE DIRECTORY — Stephanie Holden, RN, BSN, Chair
The Committee researches, collects, and assembles resource listings to assist the membership with a published guide for suppliers, educational materials, and other sources of relevant information. The Committee identifies other available industry resources to serve the needs of the membership. It also solicits advertising and directory sponsors.
Time Commitment -- approximately 4 hours in June
ONLINE COMMUNICATIONS — Jeanne DeVita, Chair
The Committee further develops this powerful communication tool to disseminate information to the membership, the plastic surgery community, and the public. It also solicits advertisements and seeks to expand the outreach and value of the site.
Time Commitment -- approximately 2-3 hours/month
CONTINUING EDUCATION — Kathy Jones, RN, BSN Chair
The Committee is responsible for the continuing education process that provides contact hours for the educational programs of this society. It completes and submits applications for the approval process. It monitors continuing education requirements of all members and reviews the annual program for appropriate criteria. Specialty certification issues are identified and studied.
Time Commitment -- approximately 3 hours in February/March
EXHIBITS/GOODY BAGS —

The Committee is responsible for the sale and management of the technical exhibit area at the annual meeting. The committee oversees the activities related to soliciting samples and donations for the attendee bag at the annual meeting and solicits sponsorships for events.
Time Commitment -- approximately 3-4 hours/month in January - April
HOST & HOSPITALITY— Karen Menard, RN, Chair
The Committee is responsible for assisting with local arrangements and member services at the annual meeting. It also functions as a resource for locating roommates for the meeting attendees.
Time Commitment -- approximately 3-4 hours/month in January - April GOVERNMENT RELATIONS COMMITTEE (ad hoc) — Donna Chang, RN, Chair
We are looking for ONE Nurse and ONE Aesthetician representative per state. We need representatives in the following states:

It defines the parameters for the " Mentors for New Members Program ". It explores options to provide additional membership benefits.

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM PLANNING — Kathy Jones , RN, BSN, CPSN, Chair
The Committee plans, develops, implements, and evaluates the educational activities for the annual scientific program.
Time Commitment -- approximately 2 hours/month
PHILANTHROPIC COMMITTEE (ad hoc) — Kim Kelly , Co-Chair
The Committee solicits and organizes projects for members to give back to their communities.
